Cake with melted butter
You want a cake recipe that uses melted butter instead of creamed butter. Here’s a simple and delicious buttery cake recipe:
Simple Butter Cake (with melted butter)
Ingredients (for 8 servings):
-
1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, melted
-
1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
-
4 large eggs
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 ½ cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
-
1 ½ tsp baking powder
-
¼ tsp salt
-
½ cup (120 ml) milk (or any plant-based milk)
Optional: zest of 1 lemon or orange for flavor
Instructions:
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch cake pan and line with parchment paper.
-
Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Stir in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
-
Mix dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
-
Combine: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Add milk and mix until smooth. Do not overmix.
-
Bake: Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
-
Cool: Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Tips:
-
Melted butter gives a denser, moist texture compared to creamed butter.
-
For extra richness, you can brush the top with a little melted butter immediately after baking.
-
You can add cocoa powder (3 tbsp) for a chocolate version.
