Cake with melted butter

You want a cake recipe that uses melted butter instead of creamed butter. Here’s a simple and delicious buttery cake recipe:

Simple Butter Cake (with melted butter)

Ingredients (for 8 servings):

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ cups (190 g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ½ cup (120 ml) milk (or any plant-based milk)

Optional: zest of 1 lemon or orange for flavor

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch cake pan and line with parchment paper.

  2. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Stir in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.

  3. Mix dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  4. Combine: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Add milk and mix until smooth. Do not overmix.

  5. Bake: Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. Cool: Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Tips:

  • Melted butter gives a denser, moist texture compared to creamed butter.

  • For extra richness, you can brush the top with a little melted butter immediately after baking.

  • You can add cocoa powder (3 tbsp) for a chocolate version.
