Strawberry jam

Here's a simple and delicious strawberry jam recipe — no pectin needed!

πŸ“ Classic Strawberry Jam (Small Batch)

Ingredients:

  • 500 g fresh strawberries (about 2 cups, hulled and chopped)

  • 200 g sugar (1 cup)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (fresh is best)

πŸ₯„ Instructions:

  1. Prep the strawberries:
Wash, hull, and cut them into halves or quarters. If you like smooth jam, mash them a bit with a fork.

  2. Combine ingredients:
In a saucepan, add strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.

  3. Cook:
Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Once boiling, reduce heat slightly and simmer uncovered for 20–30 minutes, stirring often.

  4. Check consistency:
The jam should thicken and coat the back of a spoon. You can test by placing a small spoonful on a cold plate — if it wrinkles when pushed, it's ready.

  5. Cool and store:
Pour into clean glass jars. Let cool, then refrigerate. It keeps for up to 3 weeks. For longer storage, you can water-bath can it.

🌿 Optional Flavor Ideas:

  • Add a pinch of vanilla or cinnamon

  • Mix in basil or mint at the end for a twist

  • Combine with other fruits like raspberries or blueberries
