Spicy roast beef sandwich

A spicy roast beef sandwich sounds delicious! Here's a recipe for a flavorful and spicy sandwich that combines the rich taste of roast beef with a kick of heat. You can customize the spice level to your liking.

Spicy Roast Beef Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) thinly sliced roast beef (preferably medium-rare)

  • 4 sandwich rolls or brioche buns (you could use the brioche recipe if you like!)

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1-2 tbsp sriracha sauce (adjust based on spice preference)

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1-2 tbsp pickled jalapeños (optional, for extra heat)

  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 cup arugula or lettuce (optional)

  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar or pepper jack cheese (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Prepare the spicy mayo: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, and Dijon mustard. Taste and adjust the spice level by adding more sriracha if you prefer it spicier. Add a pinch of salt and pepper for extra flavor.

  2. Toast the buns (optional): If you like a little crunch on the outside of your sandwich, lightly toast the sandwich rolls or brioche buns in a toaster or on a skillet for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.

  3. Assemble the sandwich: Spread a generous amount of the spicy mayo mixture on the bottom half of each bun. Layer the roast beef slices on top of the mayo. If you're using cheese, add a few slices of cheese on top of the beef.

  4. Add toppings: Top the roast beef with a few pickled jalapeños for extra heat (if desired), and a handful of thinly sliced red onions for crunch and flavor. You can also add arugula or lettuce if you want a little freshness.

  5. Top and serve: Spread a little more spicy mayo on the top half of the bun and place it on top of the sandwich. Press it down gently to compact the filling.

  6. Optional step (grilled version): If you want to make the sandwich warm and melty, you can grill it in a panini press or on a skillet. Place the sandwich in the press and cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.

Tips:

  • For a milder version, reduce the amount of sriracha or substitute with a mild hot sauce.

  • You can also add roasted red peppers or avocado slices for extra flavor and creaminess.

  • If you love spice, you could add a drizzle of hot sauce or crushed red pepper flakes to the final sandwich.

Enjoy your spicy roast beef sandwich!
