 If you're starting from scratch, I'd buy only these first: mixing bowl, whisk, silicone spatula, measuring cups/spoons, rolling pin, baking sheet, round cake pans, loaf pan, muffin pan, and cooling rack. No need to buy a giant collection immediately.
