If a shirt has holes, you have a few good options depending on how bad the holes are and whether you still like the shirt:
- Tiny hole: Sew it closed by hand. This is usually worth doing for a favorite shirt.
- Several small holes: Patch or darn them. A simple visible patch can actually make the shirt look intentionally repaired.
- Hole in a seam: Usually very easy to repair—turn the shirt inside out and stitch along the seam.
- Large or ugly hole: Cut the shirt down into a cleaning rag or use the fabric for sewing/craft projects.
- Still wearable at home: Keep it as a designated house/gardening/work shirt rather than buying another one.
- Completely worn out: Textile-recycling or fabric-reuse is preferable to simply throwing it away, if that option is available to you.
