How to turn on the oven

 Turning on an oven depends on the type, but here are the usual steps:

Electric oven (common)

  1. Open the oven door and make sure nothing is inside.
  2. Turn the function knob to the cooking mode:
    • 🔥 Two lines (top + bottom heat) = normal baking
    • 🌀 Fan symbol = convection baking
    • Grill symbol = broiling/grilling
  3. Turn the temperature knob to your desired temperature (for cake usually 170–180°C).
  4. Wait for the oven to preheat (often 10–15 minutes). A light may turn off or a beep may sound when ready.

Gas oven

  1. Turn the oven knob to the temperature setting.
  2. Hold the knob in (if required) while pressing the ignition button.
  3. Check that the flame lights.
  4. Keep holding for a few seconds so the safety valve stays open.

If your oven has a digital panel

  1. Press Power or On/Off.
  2. Select Bake.
  3. Set the temperature.
  4. Press Start.
