Why are people like this
In general, people are “like this” because of a mix of factors:
1. Everyone is carrying something unseen
Pain, fear, insecurity, trauma, stress — many people act from wounds you can’t see.
2. Fear drives a lot of behavior
Fear of being rejected, not being enough, losing control, or being hurt makes people defensive, selfish, or unkind.
3. People act from what they’ve learned
How someone was raised, loved, or treated shapes how they treat others. Hurt often gets passed on.
4. Ego and self-protection
Some people choose pride, control, or indifference because being vulnerable feels dangerous.
5. We’re imperfect
From a Christian perspective, humans are fallen — capable of good, but also broken. Even good people fail.
“The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)
The hard truth
Not everyone is self-aware.
Not everyone wants to grow.
And not everyone will treat you the way you deserve — even if you are kind.
The grounding reminder
-
Their behavior explains them, not your worth.
-
You don’t need to understand everyone to protect your peace.
-
Compassion is good — but boundaries are necessary.
