Walnut cake

 Here’s a classic walnut cake recipe—moist, nutty, and perfect for any occasion. I’ll give a straightforward version that works for home baking. 🌰🍰


Ingredients (8–10 servings)

  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¾ cup plain yogurt or milk

Optional:

  • Powdered sugar for dusting

  • Glaze: ½ cup powdered sugar + 1–2 tbsp milk


Method

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. Mix dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt. Set aside.

  3. Cream butter & sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla extract.

  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and yogurt to the butter mixture, starting and ending with dry ingredients.

  6. Fold in walnuts.

  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

  8. Bake 35–40 min, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  9. Cool for 10 min, then remove from pan and cool completely.

  10. Optional: dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze before serving.


Tips for the Perfect Walnut Cake

  • Toast the walnuts lightly for extra flavor.

  • For a moist cake, don’t overmix once you add flour.

  • Can be made vegan: use plant-based yogurt, flax eggs (1 tbsp flax + 3 tbsp water per egg), and vegan butter.
