How to use drafts in TikTok
On TikTok, drafts let you save a video to work on or post later instead of publishing it right away. Here’s how to use them:
๐ฅ Saving a Draft
-
Record or upload a video as usual.
-
Edit, add sounds, text, effects, and filters.
-
When you get to the Post screen (where you normally add a caption, hashtags, and set privacy), don’t hit Post.
-
Tap Drafts (bottom-left corner).
-
The video will be saved locally on your phone, not online.
-
๐ Finding Your Drafts
-
Go to your TikTok profile.
-
You’ll see a Drafts folder at the top of your video grid (only you can see it).
-
Tap to open and see all your saved drafts.
✏️ Editing a Draft
-
Open the Drafts folder.
-
Select the draft you want.
-
Tap Edit → make changes (add effects, captions, sounds, etc.).
-
Save it again to drafts or post it.
๐️ Deleting a Draft
-
Open your Drafts folder.
-
Tap Select in the top-right.
-
Choose the draft(s) → tap Delete.
-
⚠️ Once deleted, drafts can’t be recovered.
-
⚡ Things to Know
-
Drafts are stored only on your device. If you delete the TikTok app or clear its data, you’ll lose them.
-
If you switch phones, drafts don’t transfer automatically.
-
You can change privacy settings (public, friends, private) when you finally post.
