Soy-Glazed Chicken Wings Recipe

Servings: 4
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

For the Wings:

  • 2 lbs (about 1 kg) chicken wings (drumettes and flats)

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)

For the Soy Glaze:

  • ⅓ cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

  • ¼ cup honey or brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger (or 1 tsp ground)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)

  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (slurry, for thickening)

Instructions:

1. Bake the Wings:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.

  2. Toss the wings with oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. Arrange wings on the rack in a single layer. Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping once halfway, until golden and crispy.

2. Make the Soy Glaze:

  1. While wings bake, combine soy sauce, honey (or sugar), vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and chili flakes in a small saucepan.

  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Let it bubble gently for 3–4 minutes.

  3. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens (about 1 minute). Remove from heat.

3. Glaze the Wings:

  1. Once wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl.

  2. Pour the glaze over the wings and toss until fully coated.

Optional Garnishes:

  • Toasted sesame seeds

  • Sliced green onions

  • Lime wedges for brightness
