Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Ingredients:
For the Wings:
-
2 lbs (about 1 kg) chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
-
1 tbsp vegetable oil
-
1 tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
For the Soy Glaze:
-
⅓ cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
-
¼ cup honey or brown sugar
-
1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
-
1 tbsp sesame oil
-
1 tbsp grated fresh ginger (or 1 tsp ground)
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
½ tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)
-
1 tsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (slurry, for thickening)
Instructions:
1. Bake the Wings:
-
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
-
Toss the wings with oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
-
Arrange wings on the rack in a single layer. Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping once halfway, until golden and crispy.
2. Make the Soy Glaze:
-
While wings bake, combine soy sauce, honey (or sugar), vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and chili flakes in a small saucepan.
-
Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Let it bubble gently for 3–4 minutes.
-
Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens (about 1 minute). Remove from heat.
3. Glaze the Wings:
-
Once wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl.
-
Pour the glaze over the wings and toss until fully coated.
Optional Garnishes:
-
Toasted sesame seeds
-
Sliced green onions
-
Lime wedges for brightness
