Ode to Cake

 Ode to Cake

Oh wondrous tower, soft and sweet,
A masterpiece I long to eat.
With frosting swirled like ocean waves,
And crumbs like dreams that sugar paves.

You sit in silence, rich and round,
A silent king without a crown.
But one small slice, a bite, a taste—
And all my troubles are erased.

Vanilla, lemon, velvet red,
You call me gently from your bed.
With layers deep and filling fine,
Each forkful sings, “This joy is mine.”

A cake’s not just a treat, you see—
It marks the times we laugh with glee.
From birthdays bright to wedding cheers,
You've sweetened all our golden years.

So here’s to cake, both bold and shy,
The comfort food that lifts us high.
May every crumb and candlelight
Bring warmth and wonder, soft and right.
