Fish with cilantro and ginger recipe

Here's a flavorful recipe for Fish with Cilantro and Ginger:

Ingredients:

  • 2 fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or snapper)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil

  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 fresh red chili (optional), sliced

  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (plus extra for garnish)

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (or lemon juice)

  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional for a touch of sweetness)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the fish:

    • Pat the fish fillets dry with a paper towel. Season with salt and pepper on both sides.

  2. Make the ginger-cilantro sauce:

    • In a small bowl, combine grated ginger, minced garlic, lime juice, soy sauce, and honey (if using). Stir well and set aside.

  3. Cook the aromatics:

    • Heat olive oil (or vegetable oil) in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.

    • Add the minced garlic, ginger, and chili (if using). Cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring often, until fragrant.

  4. Cook the fish:

    • Push the aromatics to one side of the pan and add the fish fillets to the other side. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

  5. Add the sauce:

    • Pour the ginger-cilantro sauce over the fish fillets. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes to combine the flavors, spooning the sauce over the fish.

  6. Finish and serve:

    • Drizzle sesame oil over the fish (optional) for added richness.

    • Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Serving Suggestions:

This dish pairs wonderfully with steamed rice, quinoa, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal. You can also serve it with a side of sautéed greens like spinach or Bok choy for an extra touch of freshness!
