Chicken with marinara recipe

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Chicken with Marinara Sauce:

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 jar (about 24 oz) marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1/2 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded (or more, as desired)

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the chicken:

    • Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, basil, and oregano.

  2. Cook the chicken:

    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C). Once done, remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

  3. Add the marinara sauce:

    • In the same skillet, add the marinara sauce and stir to combine with any remaining chicken drippings. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to heat up.

  4. Combine chicken and sauce:

    • Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning some of the marinara sauce over each piece.

  5. Top with cheese:

    • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the chicken. Cover the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.

  6. Serve:

    • Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired. Serve the chicken with marinara sauce over pasta, rice, or with a side of garlic bread.

This dish is comforting and perfect for a weeknight dinner! The melted cheese and rich marinara sauce pair beautifully with the juicy chicken. Enjoy!
